Griffith Observatory with special friends................................

A couple of weeks ago, Peter (Tom's best friend from high school) and his wife Karen came to our place in San Diego for a barbecue and we had a great time! Being from California, they suggested several things that we might enjoy doing....one of them being a visit to Griffith Observatory in L.A. Though we were not planning on heading into L.A., especially not with the RV, we were just thrilled to be seeing Peter and Karen again. Plus, an observatory? Count us in....Tom especially -he's an amateur astronomer! For more information on Griffith Observatory, click here.

We were so happy to be able to meet up with them Sunday! Peter was an excellent tour guide, and his knowledge of all things astronomy was impressive! I have to say I learned so much from him! Made me wonder if I ever took earth/space science in high school! The planetarium show was the best we've ever seen! (Sorry Hayden Planetarium in NYC!) We had an awesome visit to this very popular place.

The views from outside the Observatory included the sprawling Los Angeles downtown areas (several skylines), and a peek at the Hollywood sign on the hill beyond. The park was very nice, and the hiking trails that we could see from our view from above looked great! Lots to see and do in this urban treasure.
