Waiting it out in Albuquerque....................

About the RV (especially for other RVers to learn from our experiences)-the inspector came yesterday, and his report has approved that the work actually needs to be done on our slide. The parts can now be ordered (7 days) and then the work will be done (another 2 days). Thankfully though, the big bill will be paid by our extended care warranty. Looks like we will be here in Albuquerque for a bit longer, enjoying the 100+ degree days!

Tom and I have been staying either in the campground, or near it, while waiting for the inspector. Inspectors don't come to the campground to check out big RV repair issues. We had to bring the RV to La Mesa RV, which thankfully is only two blocks away. We are so good at breaking down and setting up at a campsite, that it really is a non-issue for us. Now that the parts can be ordered, we just have to wait it out. Looks like we have about a week more before the parts will come in, so in the meantime we are making the best of things and enjoying a slower lifestyle and relaxing a little more than usual for us. (Retirement vs. Vacation....ahem....and hey, I am getting much better, aren't I Tom?). We are also trying to keep up with our fitbit goals, but it has been a lost cause with the heat. Maybe next week will be cooler?

The skies have been fabulous. We have seen so many rainbows here. One night, there were 3 different ones we could see from our campground. We are enjoying the sunsets every night as well, and some nights are perfect for star-gazing. Tom set up his telescope last night, and we were treated to a close-up view of Jupiter, Saturn and Mars. Oh, and the moon. Some other campers nearby came over to check it out too. Its nice for Tom to be able to share the telescope views with others....he sets it up and we all check out the views. Nice, huh?

across the field
over the mountains
across another area in the field
the view from our campsite
It was right there!!! The rainbows fade and come back even stronger...pretty wild!
another evening, another beautiful sunset sky (and its just getting cool enough to do some walking!)
another evening....setting up the complicated telescope while its still light out
still setting up
It has been blazing hot here, and we do everything early to avoid the mid-day sun and heat. The pool calls to me, and it is conveniently located quite near our campsite. Tom doesn't usually like pools, but he is the best lifeguard, especially when we are the only ones there.

if you aren't in a/c, this is the place to be
ahhhhhhh  (fat floats....I could do this all day)
Sharing the pool with only one other swimmer....this guy! We did a few laps together
the BEST lifeguard!!!
Now that we are not tethered to the campground awaiting calls/appts at La Mesa RV, or actually sitting at La Mesa RV for the better part of a day (twice already), we will be venturing out to explore a little. Hopefully the next post won't be as boring. But hey, that's life.....and once again, we consider ourselves very very lucky.
